There is a beautiful elegance to the long, slender, glossy purple egg plants of this variety. The elongated eggplants can be cut lengthwise to grill or fry the white, tender flesh. It has a wonderful flavor that is not bitter. The skin is also tender and soft and does not need to be peeled. Deep purple and almost black, with wonderful, mild flavor it is outstanding in stir-fries, oriental dishes and are great for grilling, or roasting to add to a vegetable platter. Best harvested when fruits are between 5 and 12 inches and can be grown in the garden or a large container.
