This variety is so unique and pretty that it is often used as an ornamental. The stems are vibrant pink at the ground and have streaks of whites and light pinks as they grow upwards. The stems turn bright white when they reach the dark, glossy green leaves and offer contrast in the veining and stalks down their center of each leaf. This plant is more than an attractive novelty, it is easy to grow and one of the best tasting chards we have found.
Harvest the outer leaves when they are about 6 inches long and leave the inner leaves to continue to grow or cut off the whole plant 2' above the ground to produce new leaves.
