Vaccinium corymbosum 'Duke'
Duke, a northern highbush variety, is the earliest maturing blueberry. The blossoms are not susceptible to frost damage since they bloom late and the berries ripen early. The firm, light blue berries with a sweet tangy taste form clusters of fruit that are easy to pick. It's an excellent blueberry for eating fresh or baking. Blueberry plants benefit from cross pollination, planting several bushes will result in bigger berries and a larger harvest. Large yields of berries may cause branches to droop; a trellis will provide support if needed.
