Holy Basil is a favorite basil in Southeast Asia and commonly used in Thai cuisine. This very fragrant herb has 1½” fuzzy green leaves with purple stems. Spikes of lavender/purple flowers that are loved by bees, rise above the plants in summer. The anise scented leaves can be used fresh or dried. Steep the leaves and make a delicious tea with a spicy clove, fruity, anise like aroma. The pleasantly scented leaves can also be used in potpourri. Holy Basil is also known as Tulsi and considered a sacred herb in India.
