Tender and hardy Red Russian Kale is attractive enough to plant among flowers. Beautiful frilly, purple veined blue-green leaves are mild, sweet and tender. The purple color becomes more intense in cooler weather and the flavor becomes sweeter. Pick smaller young leaves for salads the big leaves are tender and delicious steamed, added to soups or made into chips. Harvest the leaves from the bottom of the plant and work up towards the center leaving at least 4 leaves at the crown allowing the plant to continue producing.
