The story of this pea is that the seeds were found among the treasures in King Tut’s tomb. It’s probably not true but makes a good story.
An Heirloom variety, this interesting pea has vines that can grow up to 6’ and are covered with stunning two-tone magenta-lavender flowers. The flowers give way to deep purple pods containing 8-9 large, bright green peas. Pods can be picked young and the peas eaten fresh or let the pods mature and peas will dry up and can be used as soup peas. King Tut is a pole pea and should be given support to wrap its tendrils around to climb.
