Eggplant Barbarella

Barbrella eggplant is an Italian variety that is believed to be native to the island of Sicily.  This glossy purple, 4-6 inch diameter eggplant has a unique squat round shape with slightly grooved sides.  The dense, creamy white flesh has a slightly sweet, mild nutty flavor.  Grill roast, stuff or fry it has excellent flavor.  The rounded shape is ideal to hollow and stuff.  Roast whole and use the flesh in tapenades, chutneys.  The texture of the cooked flesh is ideal to use as a meat substitute in vegetarian dishes.  Clip fruit stem with shears. Pick fruits of desired size regularly to encourage further production
